6/2 The Michael Report

The Michael Report:

Hmmm...Very interesting statement.

This country cannot move forward until it addresses the illegal actions of Chinese economic policy and fixes the problem

A federal appeals court in Chicago ruled today that the Second Amendment doesn't bar state or local governments from regulating guns, adopting the same position that Judge Sonia Sotomayor, President Barack Obama's nominee to the Supreme Court, did when faced with the same question earlier this year.

America's biggest carmaker, General Motors, yesterday declared itself bankrupt with debts of $172bn (£105bn) in a move paving the way for the Obama administration to take control of a 101-year-old stalwart of the US manufacturing industry.

President Hugo Chavez on Tuesday alleged that U.S. intelligence agencies were behind a purported assassination plot that prevented him from visiting El Salvador.

I caught this bit of a story in the Philadelphia Inquirer recently (bold is mine):

"Although we have a long way to go before we can put this recession behind us, the gears of our economic engine do seem to be slowly turning once again," President Obama said yesterday.

That's how Judith Krupnick sees it at her Cherry Hill Volvo dealership. "We're getting busier, and the economy is beginning to open," she said. Krupnick said she wanted to hire salespeople and body technicians, five in total, but said she could not find them.

"Where are these folks who have been laid off?" she wrote in an e-mail. "We have openings. We are hiring. However we can't seem to find applicants."

With an 8.9 percent national unemployment rate (New Jersey only a tad better at 8.4 in April)--and the ranks of the long-term unemployed expanding--how could this be true?

It's been a long time since American devotees of Marx (Karl, not Groucho) have had much to cheer about. But with the bankruptcy filings of General Motors and Chrysler, and the transfer of stock ownership from the firms' long-suffering shareholders to the government and unions, communists of the world can rejoice. The workers are now, finally, significant owners of the means of production. The United Auto Workers control about 65 percent of Chrysler and 17.5 percent of General Motors.

For many ardent capitalists, this state of affairs represents a kind of Armageddon. These people didn't rage about the somnolent boards, the incompetent management, the failed economic policies, and the massive destruction of shareholder wealth. No, what really angers folks like Jack Welch—his grumpiness was on display at a recent panel and during an unintentionally hilarious CNBC gabfest on the future of capitalism—is the prospect of an unholy alliance of government bureaucrats and union bosses controlling the fate of a few failed companies.

GUEST:Daniel Estulin is an award-winning investigative journalist. For over 14 years, he's researched the Bilderberg Group's far-reaching influence on business and finance, global politics, war and peace, and control of the world's resources and its money.

His book, "The True Story of the Bilderberg Group," was published in 2005 and is now updated in a new 2009 edition. It's about a shadow government comprised of "the most powerful men in the world" and their plans for a "One World Government," corporate controlled, and check-mated by militarized enforcement.

Estulin's book and the May 2009 Bilderberg meeting will be discussed, including leaked information about it.
